We need volunteers at both Alligator Creek in Punta Gorda, and Cedar Point in Englewood in all the areas listed below. We are flexible and can accommodate your schedule. Please consider helping us. Volunteer at Alligator Creek Preserve
in Punta Gorda

Welcome Center Attendant: greet visitors, distribute information and gift shop sales
-
Trail and site maintenance: mowing, trimming, exotic plant removal, cleanup, painting, carpentry, basic repairs
-
Butterfly Sanctuary and gardening: planting, potting, weeding, watering, mulching, butterfly care
-
Native plant nursery: watering, tending to plants, weeding, and educating customers about the plants

Trail Guide: guide visitors along trails, identify flora and fauna
-
Oyster restoration: drilling oyster shells, cleaning shells, prepping materials for workshops, assisting with workshops, site checks and placements, and other associated tasks

Program Assistant: assist staff with various programs, workshops, and community outreach

Youth Education Assistant: assist staff with hikes, wading trips, Little Explorers classes, camps
-
Office Assistant: answer phones, filing; recordkeeping
-
Festivals and events: represent CHEC at events, educate public on CHEC programming
-
Speaking Engagements: volunteers may lead public talks/fundraising lectures about nature & wildlife topics

Volunteer at Cedar Point Environmental Park in Englewood

Welcome Center Attendant: greet visitors, distribute information, office assistance and gift shop sales

Youth Education Assistant: assist Naturalist with school hikes, wading trips, summer camp, etc.

Water Quality Monitor: take monthly sampling of estuary/canal water for analysis
